The Truth About Thread Count

Thread count gets misused more than almost any other term in the bedding industry. Here's what it actually means:

Thread count = the number of vertical and horizontal threads per square inch of fabric.

STANDARD COTTON SHEETS ──── 200 to 400 TC

PREMIUM COTTON SHEETS ──── 400 to 800 TC

HOTEL-GRADE SHEETS ──── 800 to 1000 TC

RAMESSES ──── 1200 TC

But here's the truth most brands don't tell you: thread count only matters if it's woven from quality fibres. A low-quality 1500TC sheet is still a low-quality sheet — just heavier.
